Firsta is a leading supplier and processor of metallized polyester (PET) film.
Firsta supplies all grades of PET film, including slit-to-width rolls of metallized PET film, slices and fabricated parts. firsta can offer short lead times and competitive pricing. Metallization of PET film adds an attractive aesthetic appeal to many applications, especially when used in flexible packaging. It also changes the other properties of PET film, making it available for many applications.
Firsta metallized PET Film is available in a full range of metallized coloring from completely opaque (reflective) to low level coloring (transparent). Metallized PET is also available in a range of metallization/treatment or coating side variations, including:
Metallization on one side / Corona treatment on the other side
Metallization on one side/chemical treatment on the other side
Metallization on one side / PVdC coating on the other side
Metallization on one side/regular on the other
Custom metallization shade levels (ranging from completely opaque to light transparent)
Demetallization or conversion to custom roll sizes (same as PET film products)
Metallized polyester film, also known as metallized PET film, Met PET film or aluminized PET film, is a treated plastic film in which a layer of aluminum particles is placed on one side of the film. The amount of aluminum applied allows for various levels of coloration. This aluminized PET film has physical, mechanical, optical, thermal, electrical and chemical properties that make it well suited for many specialized applications.
The regular Metallized PET Film is a vacuum metallized polyester film, made with base PET film and coated with a layer of metallic aluminium ( by high temperature under a high vacuum and the aluminium melt would be evaporated). The metallized PET film is widely used for flexible packaging printing, lamination, decorative purposes, construction, and also for specialty applications like insulation and electronics industry.
Compared with the regualr metallized / aluminized PET film, Silver Metallized and Top Coated PET Film has its own special advantages: one side with chemical coating to strength printing performance, and another side aluminized to exhibit a high barrier to oxygen and moisture.

The versatility of metallized PET film is prominently displayed in its myriad of applications across various industries. With its exceptional characteristics, this film emerges as a viable substitute for conventional materials, showcasing its adaptability and resilience. Metallized PET films are widely used for flexible packaging printing, lamination, decoration, construction, and self-adhesive/pressure-sensitive label facestocks for special applications in the insulation and electronics industries.

Metallized PET film emerges as a remarkable solution that offers dual benefits of both aesthetic enhancement and robust protection against electromagnetic radiation.
Metallized PET film, featuring its aluminum vapor-coated surface, stands as a cutting-edge technology designed to combat the harmful effects of UV and thermal radiation. This film, known for its exceptional reflectivity, not only captures visible and infrared light but also provides a robust defense against the detrimental impact of UV radiation. It is important to note that the aluminum coating on PET foil distinguishes itself from conventional silver or gold coatings, primarily due to its unique reflective properties. Unlike its counterparts, aluminum showcases a consistent degree of reflection that remains largely unaffected by varying wavelengths. Maintaining a minimum reflection rate of over 85%, this capability is sustained across the electromagnetic spectrum, particularly in the near infrared range exceeding 800 nm.
In the realm of packaging technology, metallized PET film emerges as a direct and compelling alternative to traditional aluminum foil. The distinct advantage of utilizing PET met lies in its inherent strength and impressive flexural rigidity. When compared to aluminum foil, PET met retains its form more effectively, exhibiting reduced wrinkling even after the vaporization of the metal. This attribute not only enhances the visual appeal of packaging but also ensures the integrity of the contents through effective protection against external factors.
Beyond its protective capabilities, metallized PET film adds a touch of aesthetic brilliance to packaging. The highly reflective surface interacts with light in unique ways, creating captivating optical effects that enhance the visual appeal of products. This interplay of light adds a dimension of visual intrigue, making the packaging stand out while also safeguarding the contents from UV radiation.
In a world increasingly influenced by the detrimental impact of UV and thermal radiation, the significance of innovative solutions cannot be overstated. Metallized PET film emerges as a beacon of technological advancement, offering a seamless combination of protection, visual enhancement, and adaptability. Its aluminum vapor-coated surface serves as a robust shield against a wide spectrum of radiation, showcasing remarkable efficiency in reflecting UV, visible, and infrared light. This effectiveness, coupled with its versatility in packaging technology, solidifies metallized PET film's position as a transformative force in radiation protection and packaging aesthetics.
